The Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, has announced a scheduled one-month power outage that will impact several communities across Edo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the electricity provider explained that the disruption is linked to planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the 330kV Benin/Ajaokuta Line 2 at the Ihovbor Transmission Station.
According to BEDC, the blackout will begin on February 27, 2026, and last until March 31, 2026.
The feeders affected by the exercise include the Egba, Oluku, UNIBEN, and Ihovbor 33kV lines. Consequently, areas likely to experience outages include UNIBEN and nearby communities, Ugbowo, Oluku, Upper Sakponba, Ihovbor, Egba, and surrounding locations.
While the Disco apologised to Nigerians, it noted that the maintenance is intended to boost transmission capacity, improve electricity supply to the national grid, and enhance overall service reliability.
