Dangote Refinery announced on Wednesday that it has reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N865 to N835 per litre.
The $20 billion refinery communicated this price reduction to its customers through a notice sent on Wednesday morning, marking a N30 decrease in the cost of Dangote petrol.
This follows a previous reduction six days ago, when the refinery lowered its ex-depot price to N865 per litre.
With the latest adjustment, Dangote Refinery’s partners, including MRS filling stations, are expected to drop their retail price from N940 per litre to a new rate in the coming days.
The move comes as separate documents from the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) and the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) revealed that marketers have received regulatory approval to import 117,000 metric tonnes—equivalent to 156.897 million litres—of petrol between April 8 and 16, 2025, to enhance fuel supply across the nation.
Earlier, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association clarified that although the renewal of the naira-for-crude deal between the Nigerian government, Dangote Refinery, and other refiners could impact fuel prices, the forces of demand and supply and depreciation in the foreign exchange rate would prevent a significant drop in the price of Premium Motor Spirit.
