Emirates has announced that all travel through Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is stopped effectively immediately and will remain so until further notice, blaming the move on the persistent closure of airspace across various Middle Eastern regions.
Sharing the news on its official X account, Emirates explained that this step was a necessary safety precaution as regional instability grows and more flight paths face heavy restrictions.
“All flights to and from Dubai have been suspended until further notice. Please do not go to the airport. Emirates will share updates when available,” the airline said in a statement.
The carrier also made a plea for those caught up in the travel chaos to remain calm.
“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience as we closely monitor the situation,” the airline added.
While previous notices suggested that regular commercial flights might start back up by 23:59 UAE time on March 7, this newest update pushes that timeline back indefinitely while officials keep a close eye on the region’s security.
Airlines throughout the Middle East have been forced to either find new ways around restricted skies or cut services entirely due to a spike in military activity and safety threats.
“Passengers scheduled to travel through Dubai are advised to monitor updates from Emirates and check their flight status before making any arrangements to travel to the airport,” the airline said.
