On Wednesday, the Nigerian naira persisted in its fall against the dollar in official and parallel foreign exchange markets.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, FX statistics revealed that the naira depreciated to N1,543.91 per dollar on Wednesday from N1,536.15 on Tuesday.
This means the naira lost N7.76 per dollar on a daily basis, compared to N1,536.15 traded the previous day.
Wednesday’s decline marked the third straight loss for the naira versus the dollar this week.
Similarly, in the black market, the naira fell for the first time this week, from N1,580 per dollar on Monday to N1,585 per dollar on Wednesday.
