Naira Firms Up Against Dollar for Second Week

The Naira appreciated by N14.98 or 1.02 per cent against the United States Dollar on a week-on-week basis at the official foreign exchange market.

According to official data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the local currency closed at N1,465.68 per dollar on Friday, strengthening from N1,480.66 recorded the previous Friday.

Similarly, at the parallel market, the Naira gained N10 against the dollar week-on-week, closing at N1,485 compared to N1,495 at the close of trading on September 27, 2025.

This indicates that despite minor daily fluctuations, the Naira firmed up on a weekly basis across both the official and black market segments.

Analysts attribute the naira’s improvement to the steady increase in Nigeria’s external reserves, which rose to $42.40 billion as of October 2, 2025, from $42.26 billion on September 26, representing a 0.33 per cent growth within the week.
