The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled a Policy Meeting for July 18, 2024, to discuss admissions cut-off marks for tertiary institutions.
Chaired by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, the meeting aims to establish minimum cut-off marks for the 2024/2025 admissions cycle. This information was revealed in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, distributed to news outlets on Monday in Abuja.
Key stakeholders expected at the meeting include heads of regulatory bodies such as the National University Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Also in attendance will be representatives from the National Council for Colleges of Education (NCCE), heads of tertiary institutions, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), among others.
The bulletin stated, “During the exercise, the Registrar will present reports on the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the ongoing Direct Entry (DE) applications. The Registrar will also analyze key performance indicators that could influence government policy directions in the area of admission.”
Additionally, the meeting will review issues encountered during the previous year’s admissions and evaluate candidates’ performance in the current year’s UTME to determine the minimum admissible score for the upcoming admissions cycle.
