NECO to Expand Reach: Construction Begins on New Offices in Seven States

Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Minister of State for Education, has launched off the construction of Seven State Offices to ensure the seamless operation of the National Examinations Council, NECO.

Azeez Sani, Director of the Directorate of Information and Digital Communication, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.

On Friday, the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the NECO permanent state office in Lafia, Nasarawa State, as well as the new state offices in Abia, Jigawa, Lagos, Rivers, Sokoto, and Taraba was held in Lafia.

Speaking at the event, Dr Sununu stated that the initiatives will provide a better future for Nigerian children and praised the NECO Registrar for upholding the Federal Character by maintaining an even allocation of State Offices across the Six Geopolitical Zones.

He stated that NECO, as an indigenous examination organization, is prepared to carry forward all aspects of the country.

The Minister, who defined education as the foundation of development and poverty eradication, told NECO that the Seven State Offices will be completed in record time to provide a pleasant working environment for their employees.

His own opinion is that “a conducive working environment is essential for nurturing ideas and enhancing job efficiency” .

Earlier, NECO Registrar Prof. Wushishi stated that the new offices will serve as a shining example of excellence in examination administration in Nigeria.

“This project is a direct outcome of the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructural development within the educational sector and is, therefore, part of the seven capital projects captured for NECO in this year’s budget, underscoring the government’s dedication to providing institutions like NECO with necessary resources to fulfil their mandate effectively” according to him.
