UTME 2025: JAMB Reveals 1.68 Million Registered Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, said on Monday that 1,687,860 candidates have registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, or UTME.

The board indicated in its weekly report that registration has been in progress for 26 days since February 3rd, 2025, with only six days remaining before the deadline on March 8th.

The 2025 UTME will hold on Friday, April 18, 2025.

JAMB had earlier predicted two million candidates for the exam.

JAMB offered a recap of the on-going registration and disclosed that 201,867 candidates registered during the first week alone. The second week registered an increase to 560,025, and then 528,832 in the third week. The fourth week brought the figure up to 1,290,715.

The board reminded in its bulletin that there is no extension of the registration date beyond March 8, 2025.

Analysis of the recent UTME in 2024 revealed that a total of 1,989,668 candidates registered for the examination. Out of them, 1,904,189 took the examination, while 80,810 absented themselves.

1,402,490 candidates—73.7% of those who sat for the examination—scored less than 200, and only 0.4% got more than 300.
