The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shot down a viral report suggesting that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been pushed back, labeling the claims as completely fabricated and deceptive.
In an official update provided on Saturday, the testing body cautioned students and the public to pay no mind to the rumors, clarifying that the message was never authorized by their office.
“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release alleging that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. We wish to state clearly that the notice is fake and did not emanate from the board. Candidates and the general public are advised to disregard it. All arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain on course as scheduled,” JAMB stated.
The organization had previously confirmed that the primary UTME window is set to run from Thursday, April 16, through Saturday, April 25, 2026.
This push for clarity follows the 2026 UTME mock trials held on Saturday, March 28, which saw some Computer-Based Test (CBT) locations across Nigeria struggle with hardware and software glitches.
Of the 224,597 applicants who signed up for the practice run, a total of 152,586 were able to complete their exams across 989 CBT facilities nationwide.
The board noted that over 20 of these testing centers faced significant technical hurdles during the event and have consequently been stripped of their accreditation due to subpar facilities.
