The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed claims that it increased fees for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration.
JAMB clarified the matter in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
The Board confirmed that registration fees remain unchanged at N7,200 (without mock exams), N8,700 (with mock exams), and N5,700 for DE candidates.
JAMB described reports of a fee hike as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
“These fees have remained unchanged since 2019. It is pertinent to recall that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction in the UTME application fee from N5,000 to N3,500, with effect from the 2019 registration exercise.
“Since the government-approved reduction, the Board has maintained the same fee structure without any increase, despite rising operational costs,” the statement reads.
