Afrobeats Legend 2Baba – We Paved the Way for Today’s Stars

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, aka 2Baba, has stated that despite the domination of the new wave of Afrobeats artists, he remains relevant in the music industry.

2Baba stated that his sacrifices, together with those of his partners, catapulted Afrobeats to its current status.

He said this in a recent interview with AFRIMMA.

He taught young artists to trust the process rather than be overly ambitious.

The music superstar urged them to learn from Burna Boy, pointing out that he began touring by selling out modest venues and building a loyal fan base before moving on to arenas and stadiums.

2Baba stated, “Burna Boy sells out Madison Square Garden, and they [other artists] believe they are on the same level.” And that is unrealistic.

“He understands what he went through to get to where he is today, and you must go through the entire process. Burna Boy did not suddenly sell out Madison Square Garden; it was a long process.

He began by performing at local locations, and from there he amassed a sizable fan base. And now you can see the outcomes. The method is the same. We are a part of the instrumental process, the sacrificers [laughs].

However, that doesn’t change the fact that I am still highly relevant. I’m still here, producing quality music.
