Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter Ololade Ahmed, often known as Asake, became the first African musician to top the global Spotify debut chart.
He praised the achievement after his newly released third studio album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ debuted at number one on the charts.
The 15-track album, which features guest appearances from Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, smashed Spotify’s record for the most first-day streams for an African album.
The album received 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart on its first day.
One of the album’s outstanding singles, ‘MMS’, starring Wizkid, set the record for the most first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, with 870,000.
