Burna Boy’s Mom Nominated For Manager Of The Year Award

Bose Ogulu, manager and mother of Nigerian Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy, has been nominated for Manager of the Year at the 2025 Music Week Awards.

The organisers of the award announced her nomination on Wednesday, alongside other top nominees for the prestigious award.

This year’s Music Week Awards event is scheduled for May 8 at JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London, UK.
The Manager of the Year prize recognizes exceptional managerial talent from throughout the global music business, and competition includes Alistair Goldsmith, Neil Hughes, and Wes Banton.

Music Week Awards recognize label, A&R, live, and management excellence within the music industry. The winners are chosen based on peer voting and by an independent panel of judges.

Ogulu has already received global recognition. She won Manager of the Year at the 2022 Artist & Manager Awards in London, solidifying her status as a power player in music management.

Ogulu, a linguist and cultural activist, possesses a Bachelor of Foreign Languages and Master of Translation from the University of Port Harcourt. She comes from a family of artists; her father, Benson Idonije, was an influential Nigerian music critic and the first manager of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. Ogulu began as a background dancer for Fela.

She previously had a successful career as a translator for the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce before venturing into music management. She speaks English, French, German, Italian, and Yoruba.

Her strategic direction has helped Burna Boy achieve global success by landing big partnerships and global recognition. She also co-founded Spaceship Collective, which advances African artists and Afrobeats’ global reach.
