American rapper Kanye West has stirred debate by asserting that Canadian artist Drake is significantly superior and more influential within hip-hop culture compared to fellow American rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Kanye made this statement during a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, where he shared his views on the global impact of both rappers.
Despite acknowledging that Kendrick Lamar might have appeared victorious in their hip-hop rivalry within the U.S., West emphasized Drake’s broader international influence.
He drew comparisons between Drake’s cultural relevance and that of prominent rappers Future and Young Thug.
“One thing is, Drake is a million times better than Kendrick [Lamar] and a million times more important [to the hip-hop world]. What Future and [Young] Thug have done is what Drake culturally is. That sh*t was insane, bro. It’s universal,” he said.
