Media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked conversations after saying she wouldn’t mind becoming a fifth wife, revealing her openness to unconventional marriage options at this stage in her life.
During a recent episode of her podcast Toke Moments, she made the statement with a mix of humor and honesty while discussing her current outlook on relationships.
“At this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to marry again, as a second, third, fourth or fifth wife, I will take it,” she said.
Her remarks come years after her marriage to Maje Ayida ended in 2017 following widely reported allegations of infidelity. Toke has since used her platform to speak candidly about personal growth, healing, and self-love.
In an earlier episode, she reflected on the societal pressures surrounding women, especially those in their 40s, who are single or without children.
“I am 40, I am single, and I am childless. I said it, and I didn’t die, and that always made me tear up. I used to feel like, how am I 40 and I don’t have a child? How am I 40 and I single? How am I 40, and I am alone? Listen, if I am completely honest with you guys, if I had gotten married again, I would have been divorced. Because the lessons never stop.”
