Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has responded to widespread concerns about her health following the circulation of a video clip in which she discussed a cancer scare.
The viral clip, taken from her talk show “Mercy’s Menu,” featured Johnson-Okojie in conversation with fellow actress Joke Silva.
During the discussion, she opened up about her past health challenges and weight loss, revealing that she once had a cancer scare and underwent thyroid removal surgery.
However, some viewers misinterpreted her comments to mean that she currently has cancer, prompting a wave of concern, prayers, and well-wishes from fans.
In a video posted to her official Instagram account, Mercy Johnson-Okojie addressed the misunderstanding. She clarified that while her doctor had suspected the tumour on her thyroid might be cancerous, it was later confirmed to be non-cancerous.
“Thank you to all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers. I do appreciate it so much, but I do not have cancer,” she said.
“I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Mercy’s Menu has been flying around and I think it was cut, they cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare. It means that I’ve this swelling on my neck, if you can see the line there, and my doctors felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid.”
The actress assured fans that she is in good health, saying, “I’m perfectly okay. Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages. I’m perfectly fine and I do not have cancer.”
