Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history by becoming the first African artist to surpass an estimated 20 billion global audio on-demand streams.
The milestone was confirmed by international music data platform, Chart Masters, which reported that the combined total of Wizkid’s lead and featured tracks has crossed the 20 billion mark.
His most streamed song to date is “One Dance,” a collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake and British singer Kyla. The global hit has garnered over 3.628 billion streams on Spotify and holds a Guinness World Record as the first song to reach 1 billion streams on the platform.
In addition to this global achievement, Wizkid previously became the first African artist to receive the Brit Billion Award, which is given to artists who have achieved over one billion audio streams in the United Kingdom.
Wizkid also holds the distinction of being the best-selling Afrobeats artist in the world, with over 65 million units sold across various platforms.
