The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilized 1,100 of its officers to various neighborhoods to protect residents and their belongings throughout the Easter holidays.
According to a report released on Saturday by Saminu Yusuf, the command’s spokesperson, the security teams have been stationed across all 20 local government areas in the state.
He noted that the State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson, gave the green light for the mobilization during a meeting with his staff, pointing to the official federal holidays set aside for the Easter season.
Yusuf clarified that the group consists of uniformed personnel for a visible deterrent and plain-clothed agents for undercover work.
He further explained that these officers were pulled from different departments, units, and local divisions to ensure comprehensive coverage at churches, event grounds, and other high-traffic areas.
The spokesperson also mentioned that a major priority for the command during this time would be the safety of essential national assets and infrastructure.
The commandant offered his best wishes to the Christian community and the corps’ own personnel, hoping for a calm and uninterrupted holiday.
Yusuf also noted that the commandant called on citizens to dedicate the season to praying for lasting harmony, safety, and growth in Nigeria, while reminding everyone to stay alert and follow the law throughout the festive period.
