Borno Police Arrest Suspected High-Tension Cable Vandals

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), operating under the Anti-Social Vice Unit of the Borno State Police Command, have arrested two suspected vandals involved in high-tension electric cable theft in Gubio Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, stated in a Friday release that the suspects were apprehended on January 26, 2026, around 10:00 a.m., following credible intelligence.

The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Saminu Muhammed and 25-year-old Mohammed Bukar, were found with 13 sacks containing vandalised high-tension electrical cables.

The cables were reportedly hidden and disguised as animal feed.

Daso noted that the case has been expanded for further discreet investigation and prosecution. He added that the arrest is part of the command’s ongoing efforts to curb theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure across the state.
