Cross River State Police Commissioner Rashid Afegbua has called on his area commanders, DPOs, and tactical units to keep up a strong presence through constant surveillance and intelligence-driven patrols across the state.
He explained that these proactive steps are essential but noted they need to be ramped up as Easter celebrations move forward in various communities. In his holiday address, he specifically instructed officers to target and sweep known trouble spots within their assigned zones.
Afegbua made it clear, though, that every operation must be carried out in total alignment with the Nigeria Police Force’s official guidelines.
While wishing Christians and all state residents a happy Easter, the Commissioner encouraged everyone to enjoy the festivities with a focus on moderation and staying alert.
According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, Afegbua highlighted how vital community support is right now. He asked the public to share quick, reliable tips with security forces to help make policing more successful.
The Command stressed its dedication to keeping the peace, cautioning that it is ready to act firmly against anyone trying to cause trouble during the holidays.
The official release concluded by noting, “The Commissioner of Police stated that comprehensive operational strategies have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents and visitors before, during, and after the Easter festivities. These measures are aimed at preventing any breach of peace and curbing the activities of criminal elements.”
