The Secretary of the Kibiya Local Government Area in Kano State, Alhaji Hamza Musa Durba, was taken by unidentified gunmen late Friday night.
Reports indicate that roughly six armed men stormed Durba’s home in Dinya town, located within the Durba Ward of the Kibiya LGA.
Security insiders confirmed the event, noting that the kidnappers arrived on motorcycles and were carrying heavy weaponry, though they notably refrained from discharging their firearms during the encounter.
A local security official verified the abduction, pointing out that the attackers moved with speed and precision, entering the home without raising a general alarm.
He elaborated on the scene, stating, “Members of the victim’s family present during the attack were left unharmed as the assailants focused solely on abducting their target.”
Local residents have characterized the event as both frightening and peculiar, especially given the lack of gunfire. There is a growing sense of unease in the area regarding the brazen nature of criminal activity now touching rural communities in the state.
Law enforcement and security teams have been put on high alert and have initiated a joint search mission to bring the official home safely and catch those responsible.
