Suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, and drug traffickers have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command in separate operations across the state.
During the operations, the police recovered a vehicle, motorcycles, illicit substances, and livestock.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the state police spokesperson, explained that the arrests were part of efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, to reinforce the security network within the state.
He detailed that on January 15, 2026, a patrol team in Hadejia intercepted a dark green Golf 3 vehicle along the Hadejia/Kano Road.
The vehicle, driven by Adamu Sani Ya’u with Musa Abdullahi as a passenger, was suspected of being used to transport stolen livestock.
According to him, “Officers reportedly found animal droppings, hair, rope, suspected Indian hemp, a Rizler, a blanket and an extra number plate inside the vehicle. The suspects are being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse.”
He added that in Taura Local Government Area, criminals blocked a road and stole a resident’s motorcycle, which was later recovered through intelligence-led operations by the police.
The spokesman also stated that detectives in Birnin Kudu arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves and recovered a Bajaj motorcycle.
Additionally, another unregistered motorcycle was recovered in Hadejia after a suspect fled upon sighting the police.
