Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LSNSA) have arrested a suspected burglar and recovered a locally manufactured firearm during an early morning operation in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Imota Command following reports from residents about unusual and suspicious activities around the Araromi neighbourhood.
The agency confirmed the development in a statement shared on its social media platforms on Saturday.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, when officers swiftly responded to complaints from members of the community.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Monday Enoch, was arrested at about 4:22 a.m.
“Acting on credible information, officers deployed to the Araromi area apprehended a 25-year-old male, Monday Enoch, around 4:22 a.m. on Friday, March 13,” the statement read.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to possessing two firearms and later led operatives to an unfinished building in the Mosafejo area of Agbowa, where a locally made long gun was recovered.
“He later directed the operatives to an uncompleted building in Agbowa, where a locally fabricated firearm was recovered,” the statement added.
Reacting to the development, the agency’s General Manager, Ifalade Oyekan, reiterated LSNSA’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with other security agencies at the federal, state, and local levels to enhance public safety.
The suspect and the recovered weapon have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Imota Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities also said efforts are ongoing to recover a second firearm believed to have been stolen in Ogun State.
