Nigerian Troops Intercept ISWAP Supply Truck

Nigerian soldiers have successfully blocked a move to smuggle essential supplies to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) after intercepting a suspicious vehicle.

The breakthrough was shared on Tuesday via a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a well-regarded security expert specializing in counter-insurgency efforts across the Lake Chad region.

According to Makama, the successful bust was the work of troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal, a unit under the North East’s Operation HADIN KAI.

Intelligence sources informed Makama that the troops were performing their regular checkpoint and search duties on February 26 when they flagged down a Toyota pickup truck traveling the Maiduguri–Gubio highway.

Upon closer inspection, the soldiers discovered a significant haul hidden beneath a layer of wooden planks, including large rolls of textile fabric favored by the insurgents, 20 Hilux tyre tubes, motorcycle components, 10 cutlasses, and three mobile phones.

Security experts believe the tyre tubes were specifically intended to support ISWAP’s mobile logistics and transportation network.

“Three male occupants of the vehicle were detained and, along with the recovered items, handed over to the 7 Mechanised Infantry Brigade for further investigation and intelligence gathering.

“The source emphasized that the arrest and seizure were part of ongoing efforts to disrupt ISWAP’s supply networks and curb terrorist activities across the North East region,” Makama said.
