Ondo Police Arrest 10 Kidnap Suspects

In a significant blow to criminal networks in Ondo State, Nigerian Police operatives have intercepted a kidnapping syndicate, taking at least ten suspects into custody and recovering a cache of ransom money.

The specialized Anti-Kidnapping Section, bolstered by PMF personnel deployed under the directive of Inspector-General Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, conducted the raids. Among those apprehended are Mustapha Adamu (20), Muritala Muhammed (22), Usman Ibrahim (25), Asiru Abdulasi (20), Abduliu Sanni (22), Ibrahim Suraju (20), Noah Isiaku (20), Amisu Aruna (28), Abdulahi Suraju (20), and Arabi Hamet (18).

Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the operation was the result of precise, intelligence-led strikes on hideouts along Ondo Road. Beyond the arrests, officers seized the syndicate’s operational motorcycle and a significant sum of cash. Notably, Jimoh pointed out that some of the recovered bills were partially burnt—a detail now being carefully documented as part of the forensic evidence.

The spokesperson emphasized that the suspects are currently cooperating with the authorities.

“The suspects have made useful confessional statements, detailing the individual roles each played within the syndicate. Relevant exhibits were recovered and are currently being processed for comprehensive investigation and further necessary action.

“The Ondo State Police Command is working assiduously to unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and to identify and apprehend other accomplices who may still be at large,” Jimoh stated.
