One Dead as Security Foils Kidnapping in Kano

Security operatives have thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Rantan Village, located in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, rescuing two individuals while one person died during the incident.

The development was made known in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

The incident reportedly happened around 11:30 pm on March 2 after a distress alert was raised by a resident of the community.

“About 15 armed hoodlums reportedly invaded the residence of Fulani Bakwai and abducted him along with his neighbour, Mohammed Bello.

“In the course of the attack, the assailants shot Musa Mohammed Bello, 25, in the left leg when he tried to resist,” the source told Makama.

Following the alert, security personnel, in collaboration with members of the local vigilante group, quickly responded and moved to the area, launching a pursuit of the attackers.

The combined team was able to rescue the kidnapped victims as the assailants escaped into surrounding bushes.

The wounded victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead. His body was subsequently handed over to his family for burial.

Authorities said calm has returned to the community, adding that security agencies are making efforts to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects while investigations into the incident continue.
