A violent confrontation between competing groups of suspected thugs in Kano has resulted in one confirmed death.
The details of the clash were shared in a post on X this Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who pointed to information from security insiders. According to the account, the violence broke out around 10:30 pm on Tuesday in the Ja’en Unguwar Lalle district after an attempt at a reconciliation meeting between the factions reportedly fell apart.
Makama noted that a distress call from a local resident triggered a rapid response from a police patrol unit. Officers arrived at the scene, confronted the suspects, and managed to bring the situation under control.
The police successfully apprehended two individuals believed to be ringleaders: Abubakar Abdullahi, 22, of Sabuwar Madina, and Abubakar Bello, also known as Babuji, 18, from Unguwar Lalle.
During the heat of the fight, three individuals were badly hurt and rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for emergency care. One of those victims, 22-year-old Aliyu Abdullahi, who had sustained a critical neck wound, was later pronounced dead. The other two remain under medical supervision.
Following the initial intervention, police conducted further raids on suspected hideouts, netting an additional eight suspects. Security sources confirmed that the items seized during these arrests included a cutlass, a sword, and various charms.
Officials have stated that the investigation is still active, and they expect to provide more updates as the legal process moves forward.
