Police Arrests Man for Firearm Possession in Edo

A 25-year-old man, Umar Abdullahi, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) over alleged possession of firearms in Edo State.

The suspect was apprehended around 2 a.m. at Akara Junction in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.

Richard Balogun, the Corps Deputy Commander for Operations, confirmed the arrest to journalists, stating that the suspect was found in possession of a gun.

Balogun added that the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

GENLOADED reported that Abdullahi was intercepted while traveling from Bauchi State to Edo State.

Sources revealed that the suspect had no clear destination, prompting ESSC operatives on patrol to stop him for questioning.

An anonymous source said Abdullahi could not provide a satisfactory explanation for his travel, and a search reportedly uncovered a locally made cut-to-size gun in his possession.
