Soldiers from Operation WHIRL STROKE have taken a notorious individual into custody following a targeted intelligence mission in Agasha Village, located in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, after a resident was reportedly assaulted.
The details of the arrest were shared in an official release by the Acting Media Information Officer for the HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lt Ahmad Zubairu.
He noted that the mission was set in motion on March 13, 2026, once security forces were alerted to an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael within Agasha Village.
Responding rapidly to the tip, units from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI, operating under the Operation WHIRL STROKE mandate, moved out to the site to hunt down the person behind the violence.
Lt Zubairu explained that as they reached the location, the soldiers sealed off the perimeter to block any exit routes while carrying out a precise search to find and detain the accused party.
He confirmed that the alleged militia affiliate, a 27-year-old named Mr Suurnen David Akum from the local Agasha community, was captured by the team.
Lt Zubairu further mentioned that a handmade rifle was found in the suspect’s possession at the time he was taken in.
The official stated that the man is currently being questioned and will be transferred to the relevant legal bodies for the next steps in the judicial process.
Per Lt Zubairu, the Force Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, praised the soldiers for their disciplined and strategic execution of the mission.
He urged the troops to keep up their current pace and stay alert in their mission to prevent criminals from having the space to conduct illegal activities in the region.
