Kogi State Police Command has dispatched a tactical squad to rescue kidnapped victims in an 18-seater bus along Obajana-Kabba expressway in the state.
The Command further explained that it has deployed other operational assets to conduct bush combing operations to render the area unsafe for bandits along the road.
SP William Ovye Aya, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed this in a press release, saying the directive was given when the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8, Command Lokoja, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, and the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, visited the scene of the attack.
According to the statement, “the AIG further engaged with the Divisional Police Officers and other key stakeholders to adopt strategies for proactive crime prevention and control management”.
He called on citizens to remain composed, assuring them that the Command was cooperating with key stakeholders in security management to facilitate the release of the abducted passengers.
Dantawaye, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, also spoke during the gathering and reaffirmed the Command’s resolute commitment to collaborating with other security agencies in order to aid the state in its relentless war against criminality, the release continued.
He also informed that Divisional Police Officers have been directed to conduct effective crime prevention patrol and intelligence-based operations to protect travelers and residents along the State’s roads.
The Police Commissioner hailed the crucial role of community-initiated security arrangements in preventing and responding to criminality and emphasized again the value of intelligence sharing, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies are reliant on public assistance to combat crime.
Though recognizing personnel constraints, Dantawaye said training and joint efforts would be boosted to enhance security operations.
