75-Year-Old Edo Pilgrim Dies During 2025 Hajj in Makkah

A 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, Mrs. Adizatu Dazumi, has passed away during the ongoing 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia after a brief illness.

The deceased hailed from Jattu Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area and died on Monday at the King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah.

Malam Musah Uduimoh, Chairman of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed her passing on Tuesday.

He explained that Dazumi fell ill shortly after completing Tawaaf—the ritual circumambulation of the Kaaba—and was taken to the hospital on Sunday.

Sadly, the board chairman said she died the following day.

“In line with Islamic tradition, she was buried in Makkah on the same day she passed and her family in Jattu Uzairue had been duly informed of the development,” Uduimoh said.

He extended his condolences to her family and assured fellow pilgrims that the board remains committed to safeguarding their health and wellbeing
