The Abia State government has denied sacking eight directors from the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA).
The directors commenced retirement leave.
This was in a press statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity.
It was claimed that the State administration dismissed directors who have not reached retirement age.
Ekeoma explained that such claims were untrue, unsubstantiated, and lacking merit, thus explaining the State government’s stand.
Eight Directors went on retirement leave as mandated by civil service rules, and none was sacked.
The essence is to say the report is false, unsubstantiated, and without merit.
According to Ekeoma, “It forms part of a sustained smear campaign against the people and Abia, coordinated by malcontents opposition elements.”
The Special Adviser called on the Abia public to ignore the charges for dismissal, alleging that some were working out a reckless media campaign designed to incite popular demonstrations against the government with false representations.
The present administration would not be deterred in its determination to reposition and sanitize the state’s civil service towards instituting a working and robust civil service that would survive the life of the administration.
