Ali Larijani Says Iran Ready for Prolonged War

Ali Larijani, Iran’s top security official, has said the country is fully prepared for a prolonged conflict following recent military strikes by the United States and Israel.

Larijani made the remarks on Monday while addressing the escalating tensions involving the US and Israel, which have heightened concerns across the Middle East.

In a statement shared on X, he noted that Iran had long anticipated the possibility of an extended confrontation.

“Iran, unlike the United States, has prepared itself for a long war,” Larijani wrote.

He emphasized that Iran would firmly defend its sovereignty and its “6,000-year-old civilization,” regardless of the consequences, and warned that those responsible for the attacks would regret what he described as a grave miscalculation.

The comments follow a large-scale military operation by the US and Israel targeting strategic Iranian sites.

The strikes reportedly led to the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a development that has significantly escalated hostilities and heightened fears of further instability in the region.
