Borno Authorities Confirm Abduction of 13 Women Farmer

The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, has confirmed that 13 female farmers were abducted in Askira-Uba Local Government Area.

The victims, all from Huyim District, were reportedly taken on Saturday while travelling to Mussa District to harvest crops. Residents of Huyim often farm in Mussa due to limited access to their own farmlands.

Askira noted that one of the abducted women managed to escape and returned home on Sunday morning, while the remaining 12, believed to be aged between 15 and 20, are still missing.

The Deputy Speaker, together with Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, called on security agencies to intensify search-and-rescue operations to secure the women’s release.

They also urged local communities to stay vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely information to help prevent further attacks.
