The political landscape in Delta State has witnessed another significant shift as Dr. Michael Tidi, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during a vibrant ceremony in Warri, Dr. Tidi shared a blunt assessment of his former party, noting that the PDP no longer possesses the political force required to win elections in the state.
For the former two-time Chairman of Warri South Local Government, the move feels more like a homecoming than a departure. He expressed a sense of relief and joy at being back in the same camp as his longtime political associates and mentors.
Reflecting on his journey, Tidi explained that after a period of deep personal assessment, he realized his future was best served by reuniting with his core political circle to help shape the state’s direction.
“I am here in the APC to contribute to the beautiful story,” he told the gathered crowd, signaling his readiness to work for his new party.
The reception for the new entrants was warm and enthusiastic. Top officials, including the current Chairman of Warri South, Mr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, and the APC Local Government Chairman, Mr. Richard Pessu, hailed the move as a strategic and positive step for the region’s development.
The ceremony also saw Augustine Uroye, representing Warri South Constituency I in the State House of Assembly, join other leaders in welcoming Tidi, highlighting the growing momentum behind the APC in Delta.
This high-profile exit follows a massive wave of realignments in the state, coming on the heels of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s own decision to leave the PDP alongside several prominent party pillars to join the APC.
