The Delta State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state have assured Muslim faithful and residents of adequate security ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, ordered the strategic deployment of personnel across the state to guarantee a peaceful and secure festive period.
He stated that a comprehensive operational plan involving conventional police officers, tactical units, and other security assets has been put in place at all Eid prayer grounds and key locations across the state.
Adesola warned criminal elements, including cultists and other troublemakers, to steer clear of unlawful activities, stressing that the command is fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace.
In a statement issued in Asaba by the command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the commissioner directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-led operations targeting criminal hideouts and identified black spots.
He also tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations with ensuring proper coordination and supervision of all deployments before, during, and after the celebrations.
Similarly, the NSCDC in Delta State announced the deployment of 1,070 personnel as part of a statewide security operation aimed at protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Chinedu Igbo, directed the large-scale deployment, instructing officers to secure prayer grounds, recreational centres, schools, and other sensitive locations.
These include critical national assets, key public utilities, and areas expected to experience large gatherings during the festivities.
The command emphasized that safeguarding infrastructure, especially during periods of heightened activity, remains a core priority.
In a statement issued in Asaba by the command’s spokesperson, Anthony Uchenna, the commandant stressed the importance of vigilance and effective coordination among all units.
The directive also covers component commanders and special forces, who have been tasked with identifying and securing potential flashpoints across the state.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with other security agencies to ensure a smooth and incident-free celebration.
The commandant also extended goodwill to Muslim faithful in Delta State, Nigeria, and across the world, wishing them a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr and expressing hope for a more secure and progressive nation.
