The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Abakaliki, the state capital.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, the incident occurred on March 30, 2025, at approximately 8:30 pm. The command received intelligence about a kidnapping near Mile 50 in Abakaliki and swiftly deployed operatives to track down the suspects.
Ukandu disclosed that officers traced an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with registration number SKA 828 AA—used by the kidnappers—to Tina Nweze Street, also located in Mile 50.
Under intense pressure from the police team, the kidnappers abandoned the victim along with the Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Sienna vehicle that belonged to the victim.
The police successfully recovered both vehicles, which are now secured at the command headquarters for proper identification by their respective owners.
