Eid-el-Fitr: FRSC Deploys 650 Personnel for Road Safety in Kwara

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State has rolled out a comprehensive traffic management and safety strategy for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, deploying 650 personnel and equipment across the state.

According to a statement issued in Ilorin on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, Basambo Olayinka Busari, the state’s Sector Commander, Mufutau A. Irekeola, confirmed the deployment of 350 officers and marshals, 120 first responders, 16 patrol vehicles, two 7-power bikes, four ambulances, four private tow trucks, and one official tow-truck.

The Eid-el-Fitr special patrol operations, scheduled to run from March 27 to April 2, 2025, aim to ensure the safety of road users and free traffic flow across key locations, especially within Ilorin township and major urban centers in Kwara State.

Commander Irekeola appealed to road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel during the festive period:

“In order to ensure free flow of traffic and safe motoring before, during and after the celebrations, the Command is currently engaged in the Public Enlightenment campaign/Mega Rally in all interstate motor parks, early morning cry, markets, church and mosque advocacies, respectively, to sensitize the motoring public in the state,” the statement added.

He also urged motorists to prioritize road safety and adhere to traffic laws:

He admonished motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations through out the celebrations.

Additionally, Irekeola warned drivers against common traffic offences that could endanger lives during the festivities:

He further advised drivers to avoid dangerous driving and wrongful overtaking, excessive speeding, overloading, obstruction, use of phone while driving, operation of mechanical deficient and rickety vehicles/route violation and driving with worn-out tyres among others.

The Kwara FRSC command has assured the public that special patrol teams and traffic control units are already active across major routes to ensure smooth and safe travel for residents and visitors during the holiday period.
