Elon Musk has publicly called for the release of Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally party’s parliamentary faction in France.
“Free Le Pen!” Musk, who currently leads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), wrote in a post on X, sharing a screenshot featuring former US President Donald Trump’s remarks criticizing Le Pen’s recent sentencing on his Truth Social platform.
Trump earlier referred to Le Pen’s sentencing as a “witch hunt” and urged for her immediate release.
On Monday, Le Pen was sentenced by a Paris court to a total of four years in prison, comprising two years under house arrest with electronic monitoring and two years suspended.
The court’s decision also bars Le Pen from participating in the 2027 French presidential election.
