The Ogun State Police Command apprehended a 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, for impersonating a police officer wearing a complete police uniform and carrying a sergeant rank.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the state command’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Saturday that the suspect was apprehended on February 20, 2025, at about 2:10 p.m. during a reconnaissance patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations along the Long Bridge of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The officers on duty were said to have suspected his presence in Longbridge and immediately arrested him.
Odutola expounded, “In the process of interrogation in the station, Collins was not able to proffer a sane explanation for impersonation, and further suspicions arose regarding his action.
“Enquiry is being continued to uncover his motives and criminal intent, if any.
“The suspect is to be arraigned to court upon completion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command warns the general public to beware and report such suspicious persons passing themselves off as police officers.”.
