Flight Delays at Yola Airport Due to Max Air Tyre Burst

Yola International Airport has barred inbound and outbound aircraft since Sunday night due to a small incident on the runway.

According to reports, on Sunday night, an airplane’s tires ruptured while in motion as it attempted to exit the airport, producing a traffic jam.

A Max Air plane was reported to be taxiing for departure when a tyre burst, causing it to come to a stop on the runway and preventing other planes from taking off or landing.

The Max Air flight, which was carrying 119 passengers and six crew members, had been allowed to take off from Yola Airport en route to Abuja when a ground issue impacting all of its tyres occurred.

Mrs Ijeoma Nwosu-Igbo, Assistant General Manager in Charge of Corporate Communications at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), confirmed this over the phone Monday afternoon, saying the defective aircraft would be removed soon.

She could not immediately say when the removal would take place.

A different source at the Yola airport, however, stated just before 5 p.m. Monday that experts had come to repair the malfunctioning plane.
