Governor Yusuf Appoints New CPS, Promotes Top Officials

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has named Mustapha Muhammad as Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS) and Deputy Official Spokesperson, among numerous other significant administration personnel.

The Governor’s Spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, announced this in a statement made available on Thursday.

According to him, Muhammad, a veteran reporter with over two decades of reporting experience, was a Senior Broadcaster with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) prior to his appointment.

“He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Mass Communication and is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field. In his new role, he is expected to work under the Director General, Media and Publicity, to support media engagement and communication strategies for the present administration,” the statement read.

In a series of new appointments, Governor Yusuf also named Architect Hauwa Hassan Tudun Wada as the new Managing Director of the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA).

Dawakin Tofa stated that Tudun Wada, a professional architect, previously served at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and is among the first female architects from Kano to excel in the profession.

“She holds ND, HND, BSc, and MSc degrees in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and the Vice Chairperson of Female Architects in Nigeria,” he added.

Similarly, the governor appointed Auwal Lawan Aramposu as the Deputy Managing Director of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).

Aramposu, the immediate past Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, also served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on ICT to a former Kano governor.

In the agricultural sector, Governor Yusuf appointed Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir as the Special Adviser on Agriculture.

The statement described Minjibir as a former Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) and a Senior Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

“He holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering with a specialization in agricultural mechanization,” Dawakin Tofa noted.

The governor also approved the promotion of Zulaihat Yusuf Aji to Deputy Managing Director of Radio Kano.

Aji, a seasoned journalist, had served as Senior Special Assistant on Broadcast (I) at the Media and Public Relations Directorate, Government House.

“She previously worked with Freedom Radio, Kano, where she built a career spanning over a decade,” the spokesperson added.

Additionally, Engineer Abduljabbar Nanono was elevated to Deputy Managing Director of KHEDCO. Nanono, who holds a Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy, had served as Senior Special Assistant on Renewable Energy.

The statement emphasized that “all appointments and promotions take immediate effect.

The governor congratulated the new appointees and urged them to work diligently in their respective roles to contribute to the development of Kano State.
