Gunmen Abduct Councillor in Nasarawa

In a distressing turn of events, gunmen have abducted Muhammad Onumenya, the councillor representing Doka Ward in Nasarawa State’s Doma Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on the evening of February 23, around 7:35 p.m. Onumenya was traveling along the Doma–Yelwa Village Road when he was intercepted by the unidentified attackers.

As soon as the news broke, a search party was quickly formed. Police patrol teams, working side-by-side with local vigilantes and hunters, headed into the thick brush surrounding the area, hoping to track down the victim and his captors.

Despite these immediate efforts, there has been no sign of the councillor since he was taken.

Security agencies are still on the ground, ramping up their operations. Their primary focus remains his safe rescue and the eventual capture of the people behind the kidnapping.

In the meantime, the community is being asked to stay alert. Local authorities are leaning on residents to come forward with any small detail or piece of information that might help bring the councillor home.
