A commercial motorcyclist, Nazifi Ibrahim, has been killed by unidentified attackers suspected to be motorcycle snatchers in Ore, located in the Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State.
The victim, originally from Northern Nigeria, had reportedly transported a passenger to Alafia Street in Ore when he was ambushed and brutally murdered by the unknown assailants.
Eyewitnesses and local sources confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The tragic event has since sparked tension among residents, particularly as Ibrahim was a familiar face among fellow motorcyclists in the community.
One source said, “We don’t know what transpired between the deceased and the unknown assailants before he was shot dead.”
A police source confirmed the killing and stated that an investigation is already underway to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for the act.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, said, “yes, an incident occurred in Ore, and upon the receipt of the information, the DPO in Ore and his team moved to where the lifeless body of the victim was seen and his bike was carted away, according to an eyewitness account.
“The command has launched an immediate manhunt for those responsible where the investigation continues. In addition, the victim has since been buried according to Islamic rite.”
Authorities continue to work on tracking down those behind the killing as part of broader efforts to ensure public safety in the region.
