The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released a new timetable for the 2027 general elections, shifting the presidential and National Assembly polls to January 16, 2027.
The commission stated that governorship elections and State Houses of Assembly polls will now be held on February 6, 2027.
Earlier, INEC had fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for February 20, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections were scheduled for March 6, 2027.
The adjustment came after the commission reviewed the timeline following the repeal of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the enactment of the new Electoral Act, 2026.
