The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its dedication to ensuring a seamless Edo governorship election. INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, assured the public of the commission’s continuous efforts to enhance the credibility and inclusivity of elections.
During the formal induction of 10 new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Lagos, Prof. Yakubu addressed concerns about the recent flooding that impacted INEC’s office in Edo State. Despite the incident, which affected over 4,000 machines, he confirmed that the technical team had successfully recovered over 3,500 machines.
Prof. Yakubu emphasized, “Even though we faced an unfortunate flooding in our Edo State office, we are fully prepared. We will seek additional support from neighboring states to ensure we have sufficient machines. We are committed to a hitch-free election.”
He also urged the newly inducted RECs to familiarize themselves with the commission’s processes and procedures, ensuring efficient election management.

- Mr. Abubakar Ma’aji-Ahmed (Borno State)
- Dr. Anugbum Onuoha (Edo State)
- Mr. Ehimeke Shaka-Isha (Akwa Ibom State)
- Mr. Aminu Idris (Kaduna State)
- Mr. Mohammed Sadiq Abubakar (Kwara State)
- Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ondo State)
- Dr. Olubunmi Omoseyindemi (Ekiti)
- Alhaji Shehu Wahab (Nasarawa State)
- Sir Etekamba Umoren (Delta State)
