Ali Larijani, Iran’s top national security official, has stated that his country has no intention of negotiating with the United States.
Larijani, one of Iran’s most influential figures, made the statement on X in response to reports suggesting that Iran had reached out to the US via intermediaries to resume talks.
The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council said on X that US President Donald Trump has “caused chaos in the region with his ‘false hopes’ and is now concerned about more American soldiers getting hurt.”
He added, “With his crazy actions, he has changed his own slogan of ‘America First’ into ‘Israel First’ and is willing to send American soldiers to support Israel’s search for power.”
Larijani, who served as a key advisor to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasized that Iranian forces “did not start the invasion.”
US and Israel have reportedly killed Khamenei after his residence was struck on Saturday.
Khamenei’s daughter, grandchild, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law also lost their lives in the attack.
The Israeli army confirmed that Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Khamenei, and General Mohammad Pakpour, head of the Revolutionary Guards, were also killed in the strikes.
