Israel Launches Strikes on Iran Following Khamenei Killing

Israeli military announced on Sunday that it launched a wide-ranging series of strikes in the heart of Tehran, following a large-scale operation by its air force that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to Tehran.

Earlier, Iranian state media had confirmed that the 86-year-old leader had died just hours after the joint US-Israeli air operations.

GENLOADED reports that, under Iran’s constitution, the Supreme Leader is appointed by the Assembly of Experts.

Iran TV further disclosed that in a separate blow to Iran’s command structure, Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi was also killed in the strikes.
