President Tinubu signed the 2025 budgetary appropriation bill into law.
The National Assembly appropriated N54.99 trillion for fiscal year 2025.
Following a request by President Bola Tinubu, the legislature increased the budget to N54.2 trillion from N49.7 trillion.
The budget breakdown shows that Statutory Transfers were accounted for N3.645 trillion, Debt Servicing for N14.317 trillion, Recurrent Expenditure for N13.64 trillion, and Capital Expenditure (Development Fund) for N23.963 trillion, respectively.
The document further shows that N14.317 trillion is set aside for debt servicing, a reflection of Nigeria’s fiscal burden, and Recurrent Expenditure, consisting of wages, overheads, and government operations, is N13.64 trillion.
