The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Adamu Bakori as the new Commissioner of Police in Kano State.
Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, stated that Bakori of Katsina State replaces Salman Garba Dogo, now appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Bakori was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide at the Force Investigation Department, Abuja, prior to the appointment.
He was the erstwhile Commander of the Bayelsa State Joint Task Force, Operation Doo Akpo, Yenagoa; Assistant Commissioner, SPU, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Assistant Commissioner, CID, Bayelsa State; Assistant Commissioner, CID, Rivers State; Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police; and Commanding Officer, 17 PMF, Akure.
The PSC chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has tasked the newly appointed Commissioner of Police to bring peace to the state.
He instructed Bakori to move swiftly to accommodate the difficult position and focus on crime and criminality reduction while ensuring freedom of movement and enterprise security.
DIG Argungu emphasized the importance of crime mapping in enabling a focused response by police in Kano, noting that the PSC will monitor his performance and provide support for his success.
Approval for implementation by the PSC has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police through a letter signed by the commission secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
